Night Beauty Routine

After writing my Day in the life post I realized that I could embellish on what exactly my night beauty routine is since it has been helping me have beautiful soft skin. Like many I had been plagued with acne for most of my teenage years and early twenties. Trying many products and having horrible reactions or being mislead by fancy bottles I have found a great combination of products that have been working splendidly.

The first thing I do at the end of any long day is of course remove my make-up. They're not pictured here but I use ABSOLUTE! make-up cleansing tissues. These make-up tissues are loaded with Vitamin E and Green Tea Extract. They thoroughly remove eye-liner, shadow, lipstick, blush and waterproof mascara without skin irritation. It takes me about two clothes to remove my make-up, but they leave my skin feeling soft moisturized and completely clean after each use.

Even though my skin feels clean from just my make-up remover its still good to actually wash your face. I picked up this facial scrub recently but absolutely love it. I use the Super Facialist by Úna Brennan in Rose Hydrate. This facial scrub is meant to bring back radiant to dull, tired or sensitive skin. This doesn't have much of a sent to it, but it really does the trick in cleansing and exfoliating my skin to leave a  much more smoother and even toned complexion. You won't see results right away, it took about a week of using once every night to fully start seeing the effects.

Now I do have acne prone skin, so after I do wash my face with the scrub I like to use a cleanser. I've tried many products but I have fallen in love with the H2O brand and this acne clarifying cleanser is great because its not just for face but for body as well. This triple action formula combines salicylic acid and a shine-controlling complex to remove pore-clogging debriss and prevent the formation of future acne breakouts. This product is also infused with Vitamin E like my make-up removers which helps leave my skin refreshed.

After putting my face through all that work I like to give myself a treat. I alternate days between these two masks but they have helped tremendously with helping my complexion, the feel of my skin and impurities from regular make-up use, sun exposure, acne and just regular aging. The two face masks I'm loving is from Formula 10.0.6 which is a Deep Down Detox Ultra-Cleansing Mud Mask with orange and bergamot. This detox mask has helped create a clearer and brighter complexion with cleansing out impurities. The orange is meant to recharge my skin while sea salt cleanses and bergamot balances. It recommends to use only 1-3 times a week so I use it every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (just like my blog posts!). The second mask I use is from Freeman Feeling Beautiful. It is a Facial Enzyme Mask with pineapple. This is a two in one mask which is meant to exfoliate the skin removing dull skin cells and stimulates skin renewal which leaves you feeling revived and refreshed. This mask is recommended to be used twice a week or as often as needed so I use it every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday giving my face a break from the extra treatments on Sundays.

Both masks are only meant to be left on for 10-15 minutes and then rinsed with warm water. I only pat dry my skin because this next product seems to work and apply better with slightly damp skin. This is a product I received in a Glossybox a bit ago and really enjoy the help it provides. This would be the Kueshi Pure & Clean Revitalizing face toner made with aloe vera, chamomile and calendula. What's great about this product is that not only is it paraben free but it lasts a long time, you pour maybe a dime size amount on a cotton pad and pat it on to your face gently. Much like the Enzyme mask its meant to moisturize and re-balance your skin. I combine this with a very small amount of H2O Marine Daily hydrator (oil-free) right before bed and leave it on all night. Waking up in the morning my skin couldn't feel softer.

This nightly routine has helped my skin tremendously. If I'm in a hurry or having a bit of a lazier day I can still go out with minimal make up, absolutely no concealer or foundation and get compliments on my vibrant and glowing skin.

I hope this has given you an idea into some products to try, I would just like to remind you all this is not a sponsored post and these are all my personal opinions of the mentioned above products.

The Day of Love -- Part 3

In the final part of my three part series I am going to focus on beauty products. The make-up look I am currently obsessing over for Valentine's day is done by Jaclyn Hill on  YouTube. Jaclyn creates a super feminine and soft look that you can wear all day and dress up at night with just a quick switch of a lip shade.

Remember before you start the look to prep your face, apply your foundation and concealer, my personal favorites are Bobbi Browns 'Luminous' moisturizing treatment in Sand 2 and MAC mineralize concealer in NW25; apply both with a beauty blender or kabuki brush.

Now to start off we will begin with the eyes, here we are using Tarte Cosmetics newest palette Tartelette.

The first shade you will want to apply is called Super Mom, its a really nice matte vanilla-y color, you're going to use a fluffy blending brush to get that over your lid up to brow. Since the palette is all matte, even if you prime you will want to pack the color on just to help blend!

The next shade you will apply is Force of Nature, it is a beige color that really good for transitioning. You will apply this predominantly in your upper crease and blend out gently up toward the brow.

Now you will be added Natural Beauty on top, again blending out gently toward the brow, what you are basically doing is layering one shade darker and darker creating a nice 3 dimensional effect to your crease.

Here we are adding the shade Best Friend which is this really cool mauvey-purple shade. This color you will only add from the outer corner of your crease up to about the middle of your eye using a less fluffy brush and the windshield wiper technique to blend the color into the original two layers; apply a bit more densely.

Now we are going to use Bombshell which is a true cool tone purple color, with any small angle brush. Layer the color tightly in the outer corner of your eye to really carve out your crease. Once you are satisfied with the amount of pigment showing go back with your blender and blend it out smoothly so its not too harsh.

Finally to the the lid we are going to apply this lovely color called Caregiver. This is a very matte, ultra pigmented baby doll pink shade. Use any soft bristle eye brush to pack on evenly over your entire lid, completely out to the outer corner. Then go back in with a pencil brush and blend out the harsh edges where your lid meets your crease with barely any product just a very tiny amount of the shade 'Best Friend'.

Finally you are going to apply your eye liner. In the video Jaclyn uses a Maybelline gel liner, I prefer to use Mac's superslick liquid eyeliner. Draw out your winged line,if you so choose, and proceed to fill it in to add a little dramatic effect.

Go back in and highlight your brow bone and inner corners with 'Super Mom' and with a pencil brush we are going to smudge the tiniest amount of 'Natural Beauty' to your lower lash line to add a bit of a shadow just to finish the look.

Here Jaclyn is added these super fabulous and feminine Blinking Beauté false lashes in #6, they add a flirty dimension that just adds to the femininity of this look to your eyes which I absolutely love.

Now incase you didn't already put on your foundation and concealer you will want to prep your face, Jaclyn uses Smashbox's Primer Water. I'm a personal fan of Tarte's Clean Slate Flawless 12hr-Brightening Primer, it just adds an extra glow to your skin. Proceed to now add your foundation and your concealer.

With a Chanel Bronzer and Sigma's F86 brush, I prefer TooFaced Soul Mates Blushing Bronzer, you will go ahead and just apply lightly to your cheeks, the point is to not contour but to simply add dimension to your face since this is a softer look. Leave your nose, under eye, center of your chin, center of your forehead and nose untouched. We are going for a healthy sun-kissed glow, nothing too intense or harsh. DON'T FORGET TO SET YOUR UNDER EYES!

Now eyebrows are really individualized, some people have thick enough eyebrows where they don't need to draw them in. Here we are using an Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil in Taupe. I really like her technic for a more natural looking brow where you just fill in the lower part of your brow.

With the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in the shade Luminous Light we are going to highlight our cheekbones. This powder really creates a natural looking highlight, there is no glitter so it is great for every day and especially with brides.

For blush we are using Makeup Geek's in Head over Heels, its a shimmery, icy baby doll pink apply all over the cheek area for a nice pale feminine cheek.

Finally to finish off this look we are going to use Color Pop Lippie Stick in the shade Bound on your lips, its just the most gorgeous shade of baby doll pink. Then we are going to place OCC's Lip Tar in 'Digitalis' to the center of your lips and blend out to intensify the color. Lastly all you have to do is set your makeup, I agree with Jaclyn's choice of Urban Decay Chill Makeup Setting Spray
