Travel Checklist - Pet Edition

Good Morning Lovelies!

I wanted to do a follow up from last Monday on traveling, specifically on our furry little friends! Most of us have pets, they are a staple in most families and provide us with never ending laughs, love and good memories who make the best road trip companions. So just like you have essentials, your furry baby has some essentials that you should not forget when heading out on that road trip. Below you'll find a quick list of times to pack your furry companion before you hit the road!

1. Vaccination Records

You should always keep a copy of your baby's vaccination records in your furry loves duffle bag. Just incase that emergency does arise once you're on the road you will have the important info you desperately need. You will also need these records if you ever need to board your buddy for the day or overnight if you end up taking an excursion that furry buddies aren't allowed to partake in. It's also good to check ahead if their are any additional vaccination requirements for any countries you may be visiting. You don't want to show up and have your bud be denied entry (or worse) because you don't have the records.

2. Collar & Leash

Mainly applying to the furry butt dog owners, we always need to remember that taking our pups out of the car for bathroom breaks must include a secured collar and being leashed. When you're out on the road you're bringing your pup into foreign territory which means new smells for your adventurer to discover that are oh so hard to resist. We'd better be safe than sorry no matter how well your explorer is trained.

3. Tags

10262062_723241857723828_3877193845686339080_n.jpg

This goes hand in hand with having a collar and leash. You will never want your furry friend to get lost, and they would never want to lose you! But accidents do happen. So be sure that he has a current tag on a collar/harness or both with a current emergency number. Most people travel with a cell phone, making this the perfect number for your baby's tags.

4. First Aid Kit

Something to consider to be permanently in your car, just like you the furry ones can get hurt as well. Today there are a number of pet only emergency kits in the market and if you happen to have the time, you can even put together your own catered to your pets needs. Some basic essentials to include are: tweezers to remove ticks and foreign objects, stypic powder to stop toenail bleeding, eye wash to flush wounds, gauze bandages, adhesive tape, scissors and antiseptic moist wipes.

5. Food & Water

Be sure to bring your furry companion their favorite food so as not to upset their stomach. If you have the spending money you can also get road-worthy food and treats that also take up less space if this is an issue. If you are one of the people who like to cook for your pet remember to make the food ahead of time and pack along with any goodies for yourself. Remember, your pet is used to the water from your hometown, when travelling its a good idea to bring along as much of your home drinking water as you can for their comfort. If push comes to shove you can rely on bottled water as a safe back-up.

6. Seat Covers & Blankets

Vacations are suppose to be fun! But sometimes with fun comes muddy paws and soaked through fur which we all know cleaning up is not fun. Protect your seats with covers and blankets that are made specifically for your type of auto. You'll want to be proactive: don't forget to always carry some additional towels and wipes to clean off that muddy adventurer.

7. Safety Restraints

Something I learned recently is that some states seat belts are now mandatory for your pup. Then when you sit and really think about your best friend as a projectile from being free in your car in case of an accident, you begin to understand the wisdom of securing your baby to keep both of you safe. Do your research and pick the best option for you and your friend to have a safe and fun ride.

                                                                                               8. Bed & Crate

You can't leave home without your furry companions favorite blankie and bed! You wouldn't want him sleeping on the guest bed..or maybe you actually would? Also bring some sheets, too, so if your fuzzy butt is accustomed to sleeping on the furniture he won't leave a scruff of a sign behind. If like my pup your pet is crate trained and has his own little den then you may just want to bring that along for his security and good night sleeps.

9. Fun Stuff

Who could forget toys!! If you have a nervous nelly as a pet when they stay away from home, you can help ease their discomfort by bringing as many toys as that little guy could stand. The familiar smells, his favorite chew toy, will help calm even the most anxious of pets in a strange place.

10. Double-Check Hotel Reservations

So you have everything packed, you're settled, the furry baby is ready and excited to go and you're just about ready to hop in that car and hit the road. Stop, call your hotel/s and confirm your reservation/s for you and the furry buddy. Nothing can kill a trip more like a newly implemented "no pets allowed" policy added since you made your reservation that went unchecked.

I hope you find the list helpful with your furry travels, what type of pet do you have and what can they not live without while traveling?

5 Favorite Youtubers

Hi Lovelies!

with it being a very crazy time in my life right now preparing for my Senior Collection, doggy parenting responsibilities, getting organized and planning my mothers birthday I haven't had the most time to prep for this blog. While no excuses are acceptable I still really wanted to get a blog post out to you and keep things consistent.

I don't know about you, but when I can't sleep at night I tend to find myself on YouTube. I could literally spend hours getting lost through all the content, which is when it hit me, why not share my current top five favorite youtubers? So in absolutely no particular order here is who I am currently watching and loving.

1.) Jenna Marbles

What is there to possibly say about this girl? I first discovered Jenna Marbles about three years ago and can honestly say I have seen every single video she has posted at least twenty times. She's crazy in the absolute best sense of the word. Funny, energetic, personable and just generally a very likable person. If you love sarcasm, general craziness and silliness she will absolutely brighten your worst day, definitely check her out here.

2.) Shane Dawson

Another very popular Youtuber, Shane gets a lot of heat on the internet and I will be one of those people who sticks up for him. He's a generally good natured and caring guy, who just happens to be sarcastic and makes fun of himself a lot. He's truly funny and can see how much he cares when you watch videos from his friends or even just from when he was on tour for his book. I obviously don't know him personally but have heard his story, read his book and he has really put himself out there. He's come a long way and deserves recognition for that. Also, if you're like me and just enjoy sarcastic banter, you'll love his videos.

3.)Beautycrush

Ok, so I can't be a fashion/lifestyle blogger without having at least ONE beauty/fashion youtuber on here. I have been watching Beautycrush for SUCH a long time. She has actually been the first youtuber I watched religiously, I love her style, her hair matches mine in type and I always get ideas of what products to try and hairstyle options. I love her style, she has great make up tips. Just give her a watch if you like a somewhat rocker chic vibe. Click here to check her out.

4.) Ginsmakeup

I actually first discovered Ginsmakeup on IG, falling in love with her flawless make up looks and her gorgeous hair color changes. It took me till about last month to realize she made tutorials for her looks instead of me having to pick apart the images trying to imagine how she made the looks. I am no make-up genius, but she has made me look it! I of course find alternatives to the exact makeup she uses, but if you are looking for some inspiration or help on a makeup look check her out here!

5.) Julien Solomita

So Julien is someone I've been following for about a year now. I first admittedly checked him out because he's appeared in Jenna Marbles videos and their chemistry was amazingly fun. He makes vlogs which isn't always my cup of tea but it's interesting to get a look into whats behind the YouTube curtain. Some of my favorite videos of his is J&J kitchen because they have such great recipes dealing with vegan foods and gluten free amazingness that are so worth a try and make your mouth water, and his videos about his dog Peach who is just so adorable you'll melt. I've also found I even enjoy the videos about their PO Box opening, seeing how much they appreciate all the gifts they receive is fantastic. Check him out here!

I hope you enjoyed my quick blog about my favorite youtubers and got a closer look into what I like, what my personality craves when it comes to youtube entertainment and just know this is seriously a small clip into the mass amount of youtubers I've subscribed to. Have a safe and fun weekend Lovelies!

June Favorites 2015

Good Morning Lovelies!

So it's nearly the end of June and I thought I'd take a crack at doing a Monthly Favorites post. I haven't been acquiring very many products this month but I wanted to share with you some products and items that have been my go to this month. One maybe two you will probably remember from a previous blog post, but if they stick around that must mean they are a tried and true coveted product! When you're on a budget, you can't afford the new monthly products, so you make what you have LAST and if you can treat yourself, treat yourself well with a select item or two. So here we go with my favorites, I hope you enjoy.

Marc Jacobs-Gardenia Perfume: This perfume screams perfection to me. I don't know if many of you absolutely adore gardenia's but those white beautiful flowers to me smell heavenly. This fragrance is a few years old and was a limited offer, but it could not embody the flower any more clearer. It is soft, light, fresh and absolutely feminine.

Toni&GuyPrep Leave-In ConditionerI received this leave in conditioner in a monthly subscription box a couple months ago and hadn't really thought twice about it. I have a basket FULL of products that are waiting to be tried from two years of Glossybox supscriptions that I slowly weed through as products become needed. This product is EVERYTHING. If you have frizzy curly unmanageable hair with just the slightest breeze like me this will be your product. It doesn't weigh down your hair, it does not leave your hair feeling oily or greasy and it absolutely helps you manage your hair with ease.

MOA DetanglerThis product was recommended to me a couple weeks into June and has been a favorite ever since. I happened to pick a bottle up at TJ MAXX and it is heavenly. For as long as I can remember I've had unruly tangled hair at the end of the day and especially when I wake up, A couple spritzes of this detangler and its easy, soft and simple to brush; its basically magic.

c. Booth Mimosa Honeysuckle Body ScrubThis has an absolutely gorgeous scent. It contains luffa fruit (exfoliates the skin), mimosa bark, honeysuckle flower extract, champagne grapes, avocado oil (softens the skin and absorbs into deep tissue) and evening primrose oil (aids in skin cell restoration and contains high percentage of GLA, gamma-linoleic acid, which is a natural fatty acid that maintains healthy skin and repairs tissue damage). The texture of this scrub is really nice and fine. It feels like really small sugar particles rubbing across your skin, rather than anything gritty or harsh. It makes my skin feel really soft afterwards and one of the best parts is it doesn’t leave a residue on the bottom of my tub. One of my biggest pet peeves with any scrub or body wash is a slippery residue. Not to mention the sent lingers on your skin for HOURS after you shower.

être belle moisturizing gelI just received this aloe-vera moisturizing gel in my last ever glossybox last week and had been super excited to receive it since they announced the inclusion in an early email. You apply it twice a day with your normal skin care routine and it is the most moisturizing thing I have ever felt. It's super hydrating, smoothing and revitalizing for the skin. Your skin's elasticity is improved and even helps tighten your skin. You will feel as soft as a baby!

Too Faced Semi-Sweet PaletteThis palette has been out for a long time, I bought it just after christmas, used it for about a month and then it sat back in my palette drawer in the restroom. I recently rediscovered and fell in love with this palette, its versatile, neutral with shimmery highlights and a couple pop colors to make it a really great palette to play with. It reinvigorated my memory of why exactly it was so coveted for christmas.

Too Faced Better Than Sex MascaraI've listed this mascara before, and I think it will come up multiple times more, but I cannot find anything wrong with this mascara. It doesn't create that horrible clumpy look with your lashes, it separates and elongates making your lashes look fuller and longer without having to use fake lashes. This is going to be a staple for the foreseeable future in my makeup bag.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish-Perfect Topping: I got this highlighter under the impression it was a new product from one of their many capsuled collections. Turns out I was very much on the bandwagon of the Soft & Gentle parade for highlighters. It creates an amazing gold undertoned highlight for a great summer glow that looks natural. I know many have moved on from this trend, but I don't mess with whats working.

MAC Lipliner-Subculture: I have yet to get my hands on the boldly bare lipliner that everyone has been coveting these past couple months, but personally I am in love with this color. It is a great nude coloring with some soft pink tones that you can wear either by itself or with a lipstick. You can through on a clear gloss and have a great pouty lip look to die for.

MAC Lipstick - Mellow Mood: This lipstick color is similar to MAC Viva V with more pink and less glitter. This gorgeous pink nude with a small hint of shimmer applies super easy and lasts a little longer than some of the other lustre lipsticks. If you're looking for a great nudish color that doesn't wash you out, you can still find some on Ebay or even get the similar Viva V that they still offer year round.

Outlander: So I thought I'd include a book/tv series I have recently fell in love with. I may be last one on the planet who has fallen in love with this series but I cannot get enough. This series follows the main character Claire Randall, a 1945 ex combat nurse who falls into an incredible journey making her live a double life. Claire is hurled back in time by forces unknown to 1743 Ireland. I am really not doing this book justice, its sultry, well written, wry, dramatic, passionate, it's really everything you could want in a book series and more. This book had my emotions in a constant tailspin and it is absolutely worth a read.

Jurassic World: So I have to say my all time favorite movie this month was Jurassic World. Growing up Jurassic Park had to have been one of my favorite movies and left me in wonder with all the special effects. With Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 I was not the happiest with the sequels. Jurassic World was the sequel that Jurassic Park absolutely deserved. The movie flowed and took you through the experience as if you were visiting the park, from packing to the plane ride to some of the amazing special effects of the attractions they held introducing you to new dinosaurs as well as a hybrid creation that will not disappoint. If you were a fan of the original movie you will be pleased with the tribute and the easter eggs left in this movie and will leave with a smile. If you have never seen Jurassic Park or any of its sequels, I still suggest seeing this movie, it's fun, will keep you on your seats and how could you pass up a chance to watch Chris Pratt?

It's all about the Tea

Hello Lovelies!

Today happens to be a day of updates, and a couple tea recipes I stumbled upon on Wanderlust that are absolutely phenomenal, beneficial to your health and falls wonderfully into my new healthy lifestyle I'm developing thanks to the #careergirlchallenge!

Keeping up with the diet and the exercises is a bit harder than I thought. The first couple days was the easiest but when we hit the need to do a 20 minute run (turned into a 20 minute fast walk) and the 50 burpees (which I had to look up) that was the worst for me. I was never much of an exercise girl. I would go to the gym but never do more than use the treadmill or the stepper for an hour. I have made adjustments to the diet plan, I don't have a taste for fish so I substituted with plain chicken which I think is a nice alternative. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with this, I'm a picky eater but I'm hopeful!

Black Cherry Iced Tea

When you eat cherries you are enjoying more than an amazing summer treat. They're packed with antioxidants and offer many health benefits including help with insomnia, joint pains and belly fat. Containing flavonoids and procyanidin they can help guard neuronal cells, reducing oxidant stress and fighting dementia. They help with warding off cancer, combat hypertension and strokes, discourage diabetes, fight cardiovascular disease and even helps battle jet lag. It's truly a summer drink worthy of celebrating.

INGREDIENTS

4 cups brewed green tea
1 cup tart cherry juice
1 cup frozen, pitted cherries
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp agave (or sub for a few drops of raw stevia)
1 tsp coriander
1 tsp vanilla
Lemon wedges and frozen cherries, for garnish

HOW TO PREPARE:

Add all of the ingredients (minus the garnishes) to a blender and purée until combined. Serve with sliced lemon wedges and frozen cherries over ice. Serves 2-3 people

Dandelion and Pineapple Iced Tea

Dandelion tea has a really earthy, sweet flavor while providing a vast array of health benefits, making it a great start to an iced tea. The weed-like superfoods act as a diuretic, and helps maintain kidney health by clearing out excess water, salt and waste. Adding the Lime and Pineapple really balances out the earthy tastes creating a great refresher for those hot summer nights.

INGREDIENTS

4 cups of hot water
3 dandelion tea bags (I use the vanilla variety)
Juice of 2-3 limes
1 cup of pineapple juice
Honey to taste
Fresh pineapple and limes, to garnish

HOW TO PREPARE:

Heat the water in a large kettle or pot until boiling. Remove the water from the heat, and add the teabags. Allow to steep for about five minutes. Cool for one hour.

Add the lime and pineapple juices and honey, if desired. Stir to incorporate. Serve over ice and garnish with lime wedges and pineapple Serves 2-3

Indian Mango Iced Tea

We all know India is known for their tea. While summer is a little to hot for a warm cup of Chair or darjeeling, this alternative version has all the consistency of chai but with the freshness of summer. Made with a mango purée it creates a silky and juicy iced tea for a perfect summer afternoon. Mangos are an absolute nutritional powerhouse and can aid in fighting cancer, alkalizing the body, regulating digestion, and strengthening the immune system. The benefits don't stop there! Mangos also possess glutamine acid, which helps to increase concentration and vitamin E which can help regulate the sex hormones and boost the libido.

INGREDIENTS

2 medium sized mangoes
4 cups brewed black tea (I used a brand infused with lemon)
3/4 tbsp lemon juice
Organic unrefined cane sugar, agave, or stevia to taste
Mint leaves to garnish

HOW TO PREPARE:

Peel and chop the mangoes. Add them to a blender and purée until smooth. Add the black tea, lemon juice, and sugar then blend again. Serve in tall glasses with ice and garnish with mint if desired. Serves 2-3

Keeping up with a Corset

IMG_0374.JPG

I've been neglecting my corset a bit more than I would like. I decided the best way to help create the overbust I want was to cut out the front pattern pieces and use muslin to drape on the form. What you do is cut out the basic shape but leave a lot of excess fabric on the top of the corset, pin the seam allowance together and then place on the grain line on your dress form. From here I proceed to shape the bust and use a colored pencil to draw out the desired effect. I can then take these pieces back to my original draft and make my adjustments.

I am still working on making all the necessary adjustments before I can even start to make the pattern pieces. I've had to raise the corset heigh significantly to meet the demand of what I want. From this point it's just needed to finish raising the height of the corset, make the pattern pieces and then create a mockup. My main concern is the shape of the back panels and the sides, I want it to be comfortable under the arm but still flow nicely. The back is supposed to be raise with a curve but I have a feeling that won't work with this corset it may look to awkward. Here's hoping I can get further along to have more to show you guys.

Please comment below what you do to get ready for summer and what your favorite summer snack is!

Night Beauty Routine

After writing my Day in the life post I realized that I could embellish on what exactly my night beauty routine is since it has been helping me have beautiful soft skin. Like many I had been plagued with acne for most of my teenage years and early twenties. Trying many products and having horrible reactions or being mislead by fancy bottles I have found a great combination of products that have been working splendidly.

The first thing I do at the end of any long day is of course remove my make-up. They're not pictured here but I use ABSOLUTE! make-up cleansing tissues. These make-up tissues are loaded with Vitamin E and Green Tea Extract. They thoroughly remove eye-liner, shadow, lipstick, blush and waterproof mascara without skin irritation. It takes me about two clothes to remove my make-up, but they leave my skin feeling soft moisturized and completely clean after each use.

Even though my skin feels clean from just my make-up remover its still good to actually wash your face. I picked up this facial scrub recently but absolutely love it. I use the Super Facialist by Úna Brennan in Rose Hydrate. This facial scrub is meant to bring back radiant to dull, tired or sensitive skin. This doesn't have much of a sent to it, but it really does the trick in cleansing and exfoliating my skin to leave a  much more smoother and even toned complexion. You won't see results right away, it took about a week of using once every night to fully start seeing the effects.

Now I do have acne prone skin, so after I do wash my face with the scrub I like to use a cleanser. I've tried many products but I have fallen in love with the H2O brand and this acne clarifying cleanser is great because its not just for face but for body as well. This triple action formula combines salicylic acid and a shine-controlling complex to remove pore-clogging debriss and prevent the formation of future acne breakouts. This product is also infused with Vitamin E like my make-up removers which helps leave my skin refreshed.

After putting my face through all that work I like to give myself a treat. I alternate days between these two masks but they have helped tremendously with helping my complexion, the feel of my skin and impurities from regular make-up use, sun exposure, acne and just regular aging. The two face masks I'm loving is from Formula 10.0.6 which is a Deep Down Detox Ultra-Cleansing Mud Mask with orange and bergamot. This detox mask has helped create a clearer and brighter complexion with cleansing out impurities. The orange is meant to recharge my skin while sea salt cleanses and bergamot balances. It recommends to use only 1-3 times a week so I use it every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (just like my blog posts!). The second mask I use is from Freeman Feeling Beautiful. It is a Facial Enzyme Mask with pineapple. This is a two in one mask which is meant to exfoliate the skin removing dull skin cells and stimulates skin renewal which leaves you feeling revived and refreshed. This mask is recommended to be used twice a week or as often as needed so I use it every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday giving my face a break from the extra treatments on Sundays.

Both masks are only meant to be left on for 10-15 minutes and then rinsed with warm water. I only pat dry my skin because this next product seems to work and apply better with slightly damp skin. This is a product I received in a Glossybox a bit ago and really enjoy the help it provides. This would be the Kueshi Pure & Clean Revitalizing face toner made with aloe vera, chamomile and calendula. What's great about this product is that not only is it paraben free but it lasts a long time, you pour maybe a dime size amount on a cotton pad and pat it on to your face gently. Much like the Enzyme mask its meant to moisturize and re-balance your skin. I combine this with a very small amount of H2O Marine Daily hydrator (oil-free) right before bed and leave it on all night. Waking up in the morning my skin couldn't feel softer.

This nightly routine has helped my skin tremendously. If I'm in a hurry or having a bit of a lazier day I can still go out with minimal make up, absolutely no concealer or foundation and get compliments on my vibrant and glowing skin.

I hope this has given you an idea into some products to try, I would just like to remind you all this is not a sponsored post and these are all my personal opinions of the mentioned above products.

Please let me know what are some of your favorite products for your night routine? Have you tried any of these products yourself? Let me know in the comments below!
